Curators’ introduction: Picasso printmaker image
Synopsis:

Join curators Catherine Daunt and Isabel Seligman as they discuss the new exhibition Picasso: printmaker.

Exploring the context, scope, themes and highlight objects from the show, this discussion offers an introduction to this remarkable exhibition.

Pablo Picasso (1881–1973) was one of the most inventive and influential talents ever to explore the medium of print. As well as a painter and sculptor, he was a master printmaker, working collaboratively with professional printers to push the boundaries of the medium, producing experimental and unconventional prints throughout his long career.

This exhibition offers insights into Picasso’s life through his art, including his complex relationships with women and his partnerships with printers, publishers and other artists. Spanning his entire career, it follows his engagement with different printmaking techniques and his changing approaches to making art.

This event is part of the public programme supporting the exhibition Picasso: printmaker (7 November 2024 – 30 March 2025).
