Every year Deaf Awareness Week gives us an opportunity to talk about the experience of being deaf, deafened, or hard of hearing. This year’s campaign asked us to explore the theme of inclusion within the community and how it impacts our lives.
We began this year’s campaign by asking our audiences “What does inclusivity mean to you?” and created our own “Top Tips” for venues to help make their work more accessible and inclusive. We’ve put together some highlights here so you can see the impact from the week.
Hear from our caption users on what inclusion means to them:

In order to create something helpful that would still be useful outside of Deaf Awareness Week, we came up with a list of our top tips for making venues more inclusive by improving their access. We asked the Stagetext team to give their top tips for how theatres, museums, galleries, as well as online and digital work can be made more inclusive. Read the full list of tips here.
Talking to ‘Living With Hearing Loss’
We sat down with ‘Living with Hearing Loss’ as they asked us all about how our charity started, the work we do, and all the services we have on offer.
Social Media Highlights
We know not everyone is on social media, so here are a couple of our favourite posts for you to enjoy:
