A youth orchestra practises during half term holidays in preparation for a concert.
 
Unexpected events cause them all to interrogate their relationship with success.
 
How do you protect the joy of the process whilst also wanting to be the best? Is striving for artistic excellence worth the pressure of losing soul?
 
Charlie Josephine is an actor and a writer, passionate about making work that centres working class women and queer people. In Summer 2022, their play I, Joan opened to great acclaim at Shakespeare’s Globe. Recent theatre work includes FLIES for Boundless Theatre, One Of Them Ones for Pentabus Theatre, and Birds And Bees for Theatre Centre. Their previous award-winning plays include Bitch Boxer and BLUSH‘ Charlie is currently preparing to co-direct their new play Cowbois which will open at the RSC in the autumn of 2023. They are also currently developing a new feature biopic with Salon Pictures. Charlie is an associate artist at the NSDF, and board trustee at Cardboard Citizens.
