We’re thrilled to announce that Melanie Sharpe, Stagetext’s CEO is featured in Create Diversity, a new resource from Creative UK spotlighting the incredible EDI work happening in the Cultural and Creative Industries.
In a first-of-its-kind project, Creative UK has collated case studies from organisations and institutions across the sector, each one demonstrating what good EDI practice looks like and inspiring others to act and discover solutions.
Stagetext’s EDI activity forms part of the case studies, alongside many other trailblazing names within the sector who are carving out change. Melanie Sharpe was interviewed by Creative UK to learn more about how the organisation engages with and brings together the end user and the cultural sector simultaneously and the risks of not addressing EDI in the arts sector.
Melanie said: “The latest figures from RNID show that 18 million adults in the UK are deaf, deafened or hard of hearing. We are working to make as much culture as possible accessible to this very large audience group, and to raise awareness of the existence of captioning to everyone who might benefit.
What we do is all about engagement with the cultural sector, and ensuring everybody has a rightful place at the table, because nobody should be excluded.”
