yesterday, 23 March 2016, which sets out the government’s future ambition and strategy for the cultural sectors:
‘The government would like to see more widespread adoption of the services provided by Stagetext, which provides captioning and live subtitled services to theatres and other arts venues, and VocalEyes, a nationwide audio description charity. We will also continue to work with the cultural sectors to make improvements to physical access to venues.’
Stagetext’s CEO Melanie Sharpe said: ‘It’s good to see the government highlighting the necessity of access and inclusion within their ambition and strategy for the cultural sectors. It’s an important platform for Stagetext and VocalEyes to build upon, hopefully increasing the number of UK arts venues providing audio description, captioning and live subtitling for their audiences’.
