Stagetext is excited to announce that it has recruited three new Trustees to join the Board: Sophie Ede, CEO of Hearing Help Essex, Marie-Clare Fenech, Head of Talent and ED&I Advocate at Oliver Blue Associates and Kasia Senyszyn, Accessible Information Manager, University of Kent.

The Stagetext Board of Trustees plays an integral role in our charitable aims, bringing invaluable expertise and influence to support our work in providing and advocating for deaf access to arts and culture across the UK.

Melanie Sharpe, CEO of Stagetext said: “I’m delighted to welcome three incredibly talented new Trustees, two of whom are deaf.  Stagetext is undertaking a new phase of being based in the South East after leaving London as part of the Arts Council England transfer programme and the new trustees will ensure we have the skills necessary to thrive in our new home. They join a highly committed and effective Board and I look forward to working closely with them over the next few years.”

Sophie Ede, CEO of Hearing Help Essex said: “I am excited to be joining the Board of Trustees at Stagetext. I have followed the charity’s work for many years and am looking forward to being able to share my skills and expertise to further enable their work and future development.

There are many opportunities ahead for the organisation, and I shall be proud to play a small part in the advancement of its mission to further improve access to the arts for those who are Deaf and hard of hearing.”

Marie-Clare Fenech who serves on the committee of Tech for Disability, an initiative championing accessible technology for disabled individuals, said: “Theatre has the power to transport us to different worlds and perspectives. By joining this board, I hope to help bring down the barriers that too often deprive the deaf community of that experience.”

Kasia Senyszyn said: “I am absolutely thrilled to be joining Stagetext’s Board of Trustees. I hope that I can be of help wherever I can and am looking forward to learning from the incredible experience and talents of my new colleagues, and to being part of the wonderful work Stagetext does to support deaf audiences.”
