Helen Fielding: Mad About Bridget Jones image
Synopsis:

For nearly thirty years, Bridget Jones has given voice to the every-day anxieties of women. She has been the hopelessly funny friend and confidant, while navigating the world’s Daniel Cleavers and Mark Darcys, and finding the path to self-satisfaction instead of changing to fit the mould.

Join Helen Fielding, author of the iconic series, to hear about writing scenes such as the infamous blue soup dinner party, interrogating modern beauty standards, and how to even begin re-imagining Pride and Prejudice.

Yorkshire-born Helen Fielding began writing Bridget Jones’s Diary in 1995, as an anonymous column in The Independent, leading to four bestselling novels – Bridget Jones’s Diary, Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason, Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy, and most recently, Bridget Jones’s Baby: The Diaries – as well as three beloved film adaptations.

Chaired by Claire Malcolm, New Writing North.
Sponsored by Swinburne Maddison.
